  • The Apprentice Diaries: Week 15

Hello everyone! Welcome to my 15th week as a content creator apprentice, I'm so excited to share with you what progress I've made this week. It's been a week full of exciting experiences, focusing on gaining skills and growing in new opportunities. On Monday I looked at videos from Peterloo and smear test videos, booked a meeting for Tuesday for a podcast, and then organised the content for the week for the joy in January campaign. On Tuesday, I kicked off the week by attending the Primary Care Podcast workshop on Zoom. It was such an eye-opening experience to learn about the world of podcasting and how it can be a powerful platform for sharing knowledge and educating the public with professional healthcare advice. I left feeling inspired and excited to explore podcasting further. I dedicated my time to finishing up the abuse campaign leaflet. This project is about raising awareness and supporting those affected by abuse within GP surgeries. I hope when it gets out it displays a powerful message and educates the public. Wednesday and Thursday were a day filled with creativity and fun as you took on camera operations at Better Business Network. Being behind the scenes and capturing all the action must have been such a thrilling experience. My skills in camera operations continued to grow, and I felt like I was becoming a pro. I met some remarkable intelligent people, looking at the political sides of saving the planet and how businesses work and connect, it was a fantastic opportunity to network and I’d love to continue exploring occasions like this thanks to Juice Academy for helping me hear about this outstanding opportunity. Finally, on Friday, I  focused on my writing skills by working on my blog post. Which I hope you are all enjoying.  I shared our "Joy for Jan" post. This post radiated positivity and gave people something positive to do this January 2024. Then finish off my Juice Academy playbook work and complete my bud tasks. it’s been an extremely busy and productive week and I’ve loved every bit of it! My week was filled with growth, creativity, and making a positive impact. Hopefully, you will be captivated by my journey and inspired by your dedication. Hope to see you all next week!

  • The Apprentice Diaries: A Content Creator's Apprenticeship Journey Week 19

Come have a catch-up with me and see what I've been up to in the last couple of weeks... Hey everyone! Phoebe here, and I wanted to share with you all, the incredible weeks I've had as a content creator apprentice. It's been non-stop action and creativity! First off, we wrapped up the Joy in Jan campaign, and I was thrilled to hand out all the booklets. But that was just the beginning! I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Gill at Peterloo to film some important smear test videos. We posted them on our TikTok and Instagram, providing an example of how a smear test goes and even did a Q&A. It was such a great way to spread awareness! Next, I started working on an event booklet for Primary Care Day in March. I also designed a fantastic social prescribing link worker flyer. And let me tell you, attending the Juice Academy was an absolute blast. I learned so much about using Premier Pro, and I'm excited to apply those skills to our future projects. Speaking of projects, I filmed a TikTok showcasing what you can find in our Primary Care Academy bag. It's a must-watch, trust me! And I didn't stop there. I also created a chaperone training flyer for an upcoming event in March. In terms of editing, I downloaded Premier Pro and used it to enhance our Peterloo videos. I added an introduction to the video about our organisation, making it even more impactful. And let's not forget about highlighting diversity within the Rochdale Health Alliance. It's such an important topic, and I'm glad we're spreading awareness about it. But wait, there's more! I attended a job fair with Ruth, where we created some awesome content and shared it on our Instagram and TikTok. We had a lot of people who were interested in working within Primary Care. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with others and showcase what we do. Last but not least, I created a job advertisement and shared it on our social media channels. I also scheduled some exciting content for the upcoming week and designed a flyer and leaflet for our next event in March for Primary Care Day, so keep an eye out. Also, of course, I made sure to keep sharing those Peterloo videos because they're so impactful. Phew! What a couple of weeks it has been. As a content creator apprentice, I'm constantly learning, creating, and making a difference. I can't wait to see what the future holds. Stay tuned for more updates! Until next time, Phoebe

  • The Apprentice Diaries: A Content Creator's Apprenticeship Journey Week 20 &21

Hey there, lovely readers! Phoebe here, and I'm thrilled to share with you the incredible experiences I had during my weeks as a content creator apprentice at Rochdale Health Alliance and Primary Care Academy. Buckle up, because it was a week filled with growth, learning, and unforgettable moments! Let's dive right in. The week kicked off with a productive meeting alongside Jack, where we discussed upcoming projects and strategies. I was buzzing with excitement as I dove into editing the Peterloo footage on Premiere Pro, ensuring it was polished and ready to be shared with the world. But that was just the beginning! One of the highlights of the week was attending the Reframe Women in Tech event to create content for their social media, thanks to the amazing opportunity provided by Juice Academy. Surrounded by inspiring women in the tech industry, I felt empowered and motivated to push my boundaries even further. As a content creator, design work is a crucial part of my role. I spent dedicated time crafting eye-catching chaperone flyers and giving the SPLW flyer a little extra sparkle. It's all about making sure our message reaches and engages the right audience! Of course, my time at Juice Academy was invaluable I learned a lot of new skills that will be useful to my job role. I took the initiative to email all the apprentices in the office, proposing the idea of starting an apprentice series. Collaboration and support are at the heart of our journey, and I'm excited to see what amazing things we'll create together. But my week didn't stop there! I hit the ground running by printing off primary care event flyers and distributing them far and wide. Building up the anticipation, I made sure to advertise the countdown to the event, generating buzz and excitement among attendees. The pinnacle of the week was undoubtedly the primary care day event. Armed with my trusty camera, I captured the energy and spirit of the day through videos and photos. It was incredible to be a part of such a vibrant and dynamic event, and I can't wait to share the magic with all of you. At the end of the week, I juggled my academy work, creating a booklet for chaperone training creating healthy eating posts, creating blog templates, creating a 'get to know us' post, researching marketing trends, and putting the finishing touches on my blog post. It's been a whirlwind of growth and excitement, and I'm so grateful for the opportunities that have come my way. So, there you have it, my readers! A glimpse into my journey as a content creator apprentice!

  • A Celebration Of HART

On Wednesday 29 May, Rochdale Health Alliance hosted a celebration of HART (Homeless Alliance Response Team) event at Rochdale Town Hall. HART was formed in April 2017 in order to provide a voluntary primary healthcare service for the homeless and transient of the borough in collaboration with the Soup Kitchen at Champness Hall, Rochdale. Rochdale has a rich history of collaborative working after all, it’s where the co-operative consumer societies were started by the  Rochdale Pioneers in 1844. The purpose of the Celebration of HART event was to celebrate the years of collaborative working between HART and its partner agencies within Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale. There was an overview of the magnificent Town Hall’s history followed by The Mayor of Rochdale, who opened the event. Dr Mo Jiva gave an update on the current HART Service and how it has progressed from a voluntary offer based in a local Soup Kitchen over the years. There were over forty-five delegates in attendance including housing support projects, voluntary sector, secondary care colleagues, drug and alcohol services and drop-in centres. A number of attendees spoke about their service offering, and how they work closely with HART to reduce health inequalities across the borough. Both Elaine and Rachel, the HART nurses, spoke and said how valuable our partners are to the HART service and how working together achieves positive outcomes. The service users who attended talked about their experience of engaging with the HART service and how it has helped them to improve their lives. Attendees were asked to complete a pledge card to HART describing how they intend to continue committing their support to the service and these included: ·       Refer patients and collaborative working. ·       Maintaining a safe space to see patients. ·       Sharing and encouraging joint working across the borough to support people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping. ·       Promoting and encouraging residents to meet their health needs. Rochdale Health Alliance and the HART team would like to extend their thanks to the Mayor of Rochdale and all the representatives from our partner agencies for attending the event and continuing to support the HART service.

  • Race for Life – Team RHA

A massive well done to our RHA team! 👏💗 This is the first year Team RHA, Chelsea Goram, Sue Moncaster, Jo O’Connell, Alex Fagan, Kieran Dobson, Tommy Weedon, Glenn Hortop and Violet Goram (Chelsea’s little girl) have taken part in the Manchester Race for Life, to raise money for Cancer Research. On Sunday 7th July, in true Manchester style, we got soaked with rain whilst running, Jogging, and walking through Heaton Park. On the way around we were cheered on by the crowd, there was a brass band, a choir, army cadets and much more. We were given a medal and much-needed refreshments at the end. It was a fun, inspiring day and so humbling to see people’s messages of who they were running for.   Sadly, cancer has affected most of us in one way or another. Taking part in Race for Life raises awareness and vital funds for life-saving cancer research.  We hope to make this an annual event and to grow Team RHA and would love more people in our team 😊 As a group we raised an amazing £770 + £178.75 Gift Aid for Cancer Research UK, it’s not too late to sponsor, just click on the link below:   Fundraiser link for cancer research https://gbr01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ffundraise.cancerresearchuk.org%2Fteam%2Fteam-rha&data=05%7C02%7Cchelsea.goram%40nhs.net%7C3cb97af870ca4a90fbad08dc9f4978c0%7C37c354b285b047f5b22207b48d774ee3%7C0%7C0%7C638560385099965012%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=lEplc403LWR4FP2W%2BS3tw4rewv5IJHp5LwL7JjxBwU4%3D&reserved=0

  • Streamlining Healthcare Access with Digital Tools: Patchs and the NHS App

In recent years, digital advancements have significantly transformed how people interact with healthcare services. Two notable tools, Patchs and the NHS App, are at the forefront of this transformation, providing the public with more accessible and efficient ways to manage their health. Patchs: Simplifying Health Reporting Patchs is an innovative online consultation tool designed to streamline communication between patients and healthcare providers. By offering a user-friendly platform, Patchs allows individuals to report health issues, request appointments, and seek medical advice from the comfort of their homes. This tool is particularly beneficial for managing non-urgent health concerns, enabling patients to receive timely advice without the need for in-person visits. The process is straightforward: users complete a detailed online form outlining their symptoms and concerns. This information is then reviewed by healthcare professionals who can triage cases, offer advice, prescribe medication, or schedule necessary follow-up appointments. By reducing the need for physical consultations, Patchs not only save time for both patients and doctors but also helps manage healthcare resources more efficiently. The NHS App: Comprehensive Healthcare Management The NHS App is a comprehensive digital platform that allows users to manage various aspects of their healthcare. From booking GP appointments, ordering repeat prescriptions, accessing medical records, and receiving health advice, the app serves as a one-stop shop for healthcare management. One of the key features of the NHS App is its ability to facilitate easy reporting of health concerns. Users can describe their symptoms and receive guidance on the next steps, including self-care advice, scheduling an appointment, or contacting emergency services. The app also provides reminders for medication and appointments, ensuring that users stay on top of their health needs. Benefits to the Public Both Patchs and the NHS App offer numerous benefits to the public: 1. Convenience : These tools provide a convenient way to access healthcare services without travelling, making it easier for people with mobility issues, busy schedules, or those living in remote areas. 2. Efficiency : By enabling online consultations and self-service options, these platforms help reduce waiting times and alleviate the burden on healthcare facilities. 3. Accessibility : With 24/7 availability, users can report health concerns and manage their healthcare needs at any time, ensuring prompt attention to health issues. 4. Resource Optimization : Digital tools help healthcare providers allocate resources more effectively by prioritizing urgent cases and managing routine concerns through virtual consultations. The integration of digital tools like Patchs and the NHS App marks a significant step forward in making healthcare more accessible and efficient. By simplifying the process of reporting health concerns and managing healthcare needs, these platforms empower individuals to take control of their health while supporting the broader healthcare system in delivering timely and effective care. • The Apprentice Diaries: Month 11

11th Month as a content creator apprentice... Week 1: The week kicked off with a burst of productivity. I completed and posted a blog about the NHS App & Patches, ensuring it was informative and engaging. My design skills were put to the test as I finished recruitment posters and converted them into social media templates. Additionally, I created and managed a recruitment page for our new recruitment campaign and started by posting an ad for GP practices to take advantage of our recruitment offer, I then went back to our research E-poster for an RCGP event with Ruth. The day ended with a focus on the video content of our case study Owaode who successfully landed a job within Primary from starting from our Pre-employment program, I downloaded footage, converted videos to slow-mo, and started editing. The second day was all about research and refinement. I dived into research for Wellness Wednesday’s post and edited social media posts for the recruitment campaign, ensuring they were on-brand and eye-catching. I ticked off tasks from my to-do list, continued editing Owade’s video, and followed up via email for another one of our success stories Shamima. The week concluded with posting recruitment content, attending an EPA session, and studying for BUD work. I also retouched the research E-poster and discussed it with Mary then making, making sure everything was polished and ready to go. Week 2: This week started with a focus on video content. I retouched the pre-employment research E-poster, searched for non-copywrite background music for the Owodes case study video, and edited Owode’s video to include audio adjustments as when visiting Owode the first thing I did to start creating the content was record audio sharing her story of how she got to where she is now, then filmed content around the GP practice, so then during the editing process I can just combine the audio and visual footage separately when the video aligned with my vision to what I expected I shared the final product across all social media platforms. Later, I switched gears to edit a pharmacy video, adding animations and refining the content. The pharmacy video edits continued, leading up to its final review and posting. I completed the Wellness Wednesday post and sent off the pharmacy video for approval. With all the major tasks done, I printed posters to hand out and called it a day. A busy day filled with final touches and collaborations. I worked on a task that was creating a booklet for the "What does RHA do for your practice" booklet speaking with co-workers and planning what content needed to be included, touching up recruitment campaign posters, checking emails for feedback, and transferring work to the N drive. The day ended with planning recruitment "We are hiring video reviewing HART celebration videos and planning to create a recap video. The week was capped off with a Peterloo meeting, allowing me to engage in discussions and gather insights for future content. Week 3: This week was about balancing multiple projects. I tested a training platform, edited the pharmacy and HART videos, and researched topics for Wellness Wednesday. Additionally, I made adjustments to an E-poster and worked on the " What RHA does for your practice" booklet, ensuring both were up to standard. The focus throughout this week due to deadlines was on the research E-posters and the booklet for RHA. I also spent time editing the HART video, researching for Careers Week, and planning content for future postings, including results day. The midweek was productive as I finalized and posted Wellness Wednesday content, worked on the E-poster, and conducted research for recruitment materials. I also had a coaching call with my tutor, which helped me reflect on my progress and plan for the future with my apprenticeship. I edited the recap HART video including quotes that enhance what difference our HART team made. Week 4: As the month drew to a close, I focused on finalising projects. I worked on the E-poster and the RHA booklet, communicated with team members via email for the Shamima's case study and converted it onto a template ready to post as recruitment content. I also planned out case study blogs and started drafting this very blog, reflecting on my journey. The last day of the week was all about wrapping up loose ends and preparing for the next steps. I created posts for sexual health and suicide prevention awareness days, video content for our "we are hiring video" for TikTok and continued researching ideas with recruitment content, and printed off posters for GP practices. The day ended with research for upcoming content and planning for the next week into the new month which was Tips for CV making and interview tips. This month has been an experience as a content creator apprentice. From creating engaging blog posts to editing complex videos and collaborating on various projects, I've had the chance to expand my skills and contribute meaningfully to our content strategy. Each week presented its own set of challenges and learning opportunities, and I’m excited to take what I’ve learned into the next month.

  • Tips for Crafting Your CV and Navigating Job Interviews

When preparing for a job search, your CV and interview performance are crucial in making a strong first impression. Here’s a guide to help you understand what to include in your CV, how to avoid common mistakes, and how to prepare for interviews effectively. Crafting Your CV: Do’s and Don’ts Your CV is often the first thing an employer sees, so it’s important to make it as clear, concise, and relevant as possible. Here’s what you should focus on: Do Include: - Name, Address, and Contact Details: Ensure these are up-to-date so employers can easily reach you. - Personal/Professional Profile (Optional): A summary that highlights your skills, experience, and career aspirations can give employers a snapshot of who you are. - Qualifications: List relevant qualifications, such as "5 GCSEs at grade C or above," to showcase your educational background. - Industry-Specific Training: Include any specialized training relevant to the job, like EMIS for healthcare roles. - Job History: Provide a summary of your previous positions, focusing on your duties and key achievements. Highlight experiences that align with the role you’re applying for. Don’t Include: - Date of Birth: This is not required and can potentially lead to age discrimination. - Names of Schools, Colleges, or Universities: Listing the institutions you attended isn’t necessary; your qualifications are what matter. - Reason for Leaving Previous Jobs: This information is usually not relevant on a CV and can be discussed during an interview if asked. Additional Tips: - Apply Promptly: Don’t hesitate to apply for a job you’re interested in. Many companies close applications early if they receive a large number of applicants, so acting quickly can be crucial. - Social Media: Ensure your personal social media accounts are private and free of content that you wouldn’t want a potential employer to see. Interview Preparation: Key Strategies Preparation is key to a successful interview. Here’s how you can make sure you’re ready to impress: Be Prepared: - Bring Essentials: Arrive with a notebook, pen, and any notes or supporting documents you’ve prepared. Rehearse your answers to potential questions, and use your notes as prompts if needed. - Practice Makes Perfect: Anticipate common interview questions and scenarios, and practice your responses. This will help you stay calm and focused during the interview. Know the Venue: - Do a Trial Run: Familiarize yourself with the interview location ahead of time. This will help you avoid getting lost or being late. - Arrive Early: Aim to arrive a bit early. This shows punctuality and gives you a chance to compose yourself before the interview begins. Upon arrival, sign in with a staff member and ask for the person who will be interviewing you. Posture and Body Language: - Exude Confidence: Your posture speaks volumes. Stand tall, walk confidently, and make eye contact. - Handshake: If you’re comfortable, offer a firm but brief handshake. If you prefer not to, it’s okay to politely decline. Interview Attire: - Dress Appropriately: Always assume that professional attire is expected unless otherwise stated. Black trousers and a shirt or a plain top are usually safe choices. - Maintain Hygiene: Especially in healthcare or customer-facing roles, it’s vital to appear clean and presentable. Pay attention to your nails, hair, and clothes to ensure they’re tidy and appropriate. - Consider Style: Avoid clothing that might be seen as too casual or revealing, such as ripped jeans or skimpy tops. Answering Interview Questions: The STAR Method When responding to interview questions, particularly those about past experiences, the STAR method can be incredibly helpful: - SITUATION: Start by describing the specific situation or challenge you were faced with. - TASK: Explain what was required of you in that situation, focusing on your role. - ACTION: Detail the actions you took to address the situation. Highlight your contribution. - RESULT: Share the outcome of your actions, what you learned from the experience, and what you might do differently in the future. By following these guidelines, you'll be better prepared to create a compelling CV and navigate your job interview with confidence. Good luck!
