- Touchstones
3 Back Touchstones In a lovely Historicist building made from Yorkshire stone, Touchstones is a town museum, art gallery, visitor information centre and study centre. The venue is the Central Library, Museum and Art Gallery, dating from 1883 and extended in 1903 and 1913. As a museum, Touchstones uncovers Rochdale’s human and natural history, charting the cotton mills, Rochdale Canal and the advent of the railway, and showing how the landscape was cut by melting glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age. You’ll also be introduced to some important Rochdale locals like the Victorian photographer Roger Fenton and the broadcaster John Peel. Like the museum display, the art gallery is on a constant rotation, calling on a collection of 1,600 pieces by the likes of L. S. Lowry, Charles Burton Barber, Jeremy Critchlow and Jeffrey Edwards. In spring 2019, “What if We Tried?” was an attempt to hang as much of the collection in a single exhibition, across three galleries. Previous Next
- Sue Moncaster
Above the Call Award < Back Sue Moncaster Above the Call Award Winner "Sue has worked so so hard to make the Access Service what it is today. She has worked tirelessly day and night put in extra hours at the weekend and still comes into the team with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She has great relationships with the bank staff and all value her just as much as our team does. She is very passionate about the clinics that are held and ensuring patients have the best experience they can. Sue worked so hard on introducing Cytology into the service and we are all so proud of her every day. She makes us smile so much and is always there for us whether its a bad or good day. WE LOVE YOU SUE! <3" For always stepping in and going above and beyond for the team. "I strongly feel this award should go to Sue as I believe her commitment to the role she has is so admirable given it is an extremely difficult area to manage logistically and mentally due to so many moving parts/ changes in circumstances. I have worked with many people and organisations that manage the coordination of services and I know this is not an easy task to manage, however, Sue is just built differently and still does it with a smile on her face, which I have not seen before and is a first for me haha. she has an amazing commitment to her role and team and works all the hours this universe sends to ensure everything continues to run smoothly for patients and clinical staff (amazing)" Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link

- Briana Martin & Sophie Haynes
Amazing Addition Award < Back Briana Martin & Sophie Haynes Amazing Addition Award Winner Briana and Sophie job share the Care Co-ordinator role at Peterloo Medical Centre, and only started in this role end of February 2024, replacing a departing staff member. Both of them have absolutely revolutionised the role in their respective areas of work with more efficient processes being implemented by them both and also picking up and correcting some screening areas that had been coded incorrectly in the prior 12 months that affected our Practice targets. Both Briana and Sophie were receptionists at the practice, but all of the duties within their roles were completely brand new to them. Both have absolutely thrived in their new roles, bearing in mind that their new roles require chairing of meetings, writing of minutes, dealing with outside agencies relating to sensitive areas such as Safeguarding and End of Life Care. As their manager, it has been an absolute joy to watch both these staff members transform from fairly quiet staff members to very confident staff taking up lead roles within the practice. They have developed an amazing relationship with the Patient Participation Group also, arranging clinical and outside speakers such as Health Watch Rochdale to attend the meeting. Feedback from PPG members has been excellent for both. They should both be very proud of what they have achieved in such a short space of time.
