    Hart is a Primary Care Health Service provided by Rochdale Health Alliance for the homeless and transients within our borough. The team consists of two Registered Nurses and a Liaison Officer.     Placements What are placements? Back to list Placements form a valuable part of their learning experience. It enables students to gain real-life skills and knowledge that will support their course objectives and career development. Placements vary in length depending on individual course requirements. HMRPCA works in partnership with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the region and Greater Manchester Training Hub to support student placements across a range of courses. As well as looking at innovative ways to promote primary care as a career destination What are place-based tariffs/placement tariffs? Some student placements that are hosted by a GP Practice, or other community-based organisation, comes with a placement tariff. The hosting organisation is known as the placement provider. The tariff is a payment of money that is paid to the placement provider. It is set by NHSE to acknowledge the staff time taken to supervise and train the student. Currently, this can take over 12 months to be paid to placement providers. Become a learning environment? HMRPCA would like to encourage all GP Practices and social care homes in Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale to consider offering a student placement. We feel the local areas offer excellent examples of primary and community care provision. Offering a placement encourages students to remain in the county after graduation.     We are designed to meet the educational needs of the primary and community care workforce, and bring together NHS organisations, community providers and Local Authorities. What We Do We are Rochdale Borough Primary Care Workforce and Education Locality leads. We work in partnership with local education providers, especially Hopwood College, Rochdale College, Rochdale Training, Salford University, Open University and Greater Manchester Training Hub. We are approved as an At Scale learning environment by NHSE. We work with all local education providers to promote careers in primary care, and we are starting to scope out into Social Care. OUR KEY GOALS for 2025/26 Support the primary and community care workforce with a single reliable source of information on education, supervision and development, for all professionals at all career levels. Understand the needs and ambitions of primary and community care organisations to grow and develop their workforce. Create opportunities for lifelong learning in primary and community settings. Grow a faculty of educators and supervisors across the professions. Manage access to education and training funding for primary and community professionals. Introduce and help to embed new roles in an evidence-based way.

Placements We deliver placement opportunities for students in primary and community care settings. This includes those looking for school work experience up to the post-graduate level.  We also support staff to develop the mentoring and supervisory skills needed to successfully manage student placements. Our focus in 25/26: Increasing opportunities for students to learn in primary and community care settings Training and supporting health and care professionals to become educational and clinical supervisors MORE INFORMATION ON STUDENT PLACEMENTS Recruitment We are developing educators across the HMR Integrated Care System. Our focus in 2023/24: Training and supporting health and care professionals to become educational and clinical supervisors Training & Education More exciting updates to follow! Please check back soon... *Placements? We are supporting HMR Primary Care Networks (PCNs) with their succession planning. This includes collating workforce data and developing workforce planning strategies. Our focus in 2023/24: Working with primary and community care providers to create workforce investment plans for every PCN Understanding the learning and development needs of the primary and community care workforce through a Training Needs Analysis survey Establishing communities of practice (peer support networks) for different job roles Evaluating the introduction of the GP Assistant across the Midlands and establishing a second cohort of trainees Facilitating access to the apprenticeship levy which fully funds apprenticeship training costs New Roles We are supporting the rollout of the new roles within primary care that are highlighted in the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). RESOURCES FOR THE NEW ROLES Retention We are developing strategies for retaining the skills and workforce. Our focus in 2023/24: Supporting the transition from student training to independent practice, for doctors, nurses and Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) in primary and community care
