Paramedic Form As a Paramedic , you’ll often be one of the first to arrive when a patient needs help. It’s a fast-paced and vital role where you’ll need to quickly take charge of the situation to save lives. Working life When you’re a qualified paramedic, no day is ever the same. You’ll work in a range of emergency and non-emergency situations, using your judgement and skills to quickly access a patient’s condition and make life-saving decisions. You’ll be trained to resuscitate and stabilise patients using sophisticated techniques, equipment and drugs. In an emergency, you may use high-tech equipment such as defibrillators, and spinal and traction splints, as well as administering oxygen and drugs. You’ll often work alongside the police and fire and rescue services. Along with your patients, you’ll also support their relatives, friends and members of the public, some of whom might be highly agitated. You may also work on your own using a motorbike or bicycle, or provide advice over the telephone from a control room or clinical hub. Paramedics work closely with other healthcare teams in the community, such as GPs, occupational therapists, mental health teams, diabetes specialists and doctors and nurses. He is respected and loved by his patients. He has taken the decision to retire from general practice on the 23 May 2024 and he will be missed by all staff and patients alike. He deserves this award Andrew is retiring this week after 32 years in service. He is a fantastic doctor as demonstrated by the many many patients and family members who have been to recognise his career over the last few weeks. He will be greatly missed by all patients and team members. 8 Back Greenbooth Reservoir There are spellbinding walks to be had at this string of four moorland water reservoirs to the north-west of Rochdale. The three upper reservoirs to the north were completed in 1846 in the steep valley above the village of Greenbooth. But as Rochdale grew in the post-war years another reservoir was needed, and so the village was wiped from the map. The lower reservoir was opened in 1965, and on the side of the dam is a plaque in memory of the village. There’s a choice of walking loops on this natural ledge overlooking Greater Manchester, letting you explore the landscape for anything from 30 minutes to several hours. In this rugged Pennine setting you’ll be in the company of flocks of sheep, and will have views to savour to the south, and across to Yorkshire in the east. Previous Next
