1 Back Rochdale Town Hall Often hailed as one of the UK’s greatest municipal buildings, Rochdale Town Hall is a Gothic Revival wonder designed by William Henry Crossland and opened in 1871. The clock tower, soaring over the Esplanade and the River Roch, is a replacement, as the original burnt down in 1883, to be redesigned by Alfred Waterhouse along the same lines as Manchester Town Hall. Take some time to appreciate the main facade from the car park, where the portico with three pointed arches is crested by four gilded lions. Further up you can make out Rochdale’s coat of arms, along an embattled parapet decorated with gargoyles. Public tours are given on the first Monday of the month, and it’s a chance to grab with both hands, to explore the labyrinth of corridors, the Great Hall, Mayor’s Parlour and old Magistrates’ Retiring Room and enjoy a 15-minute recital on the James Jepson Binns organ installed in 1913. Wellbeing Award < Back Lisa Mitchell Wellbeing Award Winner If i can nominate Lisa everyday, I would. Since taking over the role of our Practice Manager almost 3 years ago, she has completely turned it around. She has ensured our working environment is a nicer place to be i.e., part revamp in many areas both clinical and non clinical, employed more staff to take the pressure of in many areas, invested in staff to upskill when they have shown and interest and worked with the partners to increase pay to ensure that all staff members are fully appreciated. On top of all this, she has always been considerate and fair with all staff members, arranged wellbeing events for the staff and ensures that staff are fully supported in their working environment. Even after having a tough year herself personally, Lisa always manages to come in with a smile for everyone and still keeps a lovely approachable manner. If Carlsberg did Practice Managers..... Health and Wellbeing Coaches (HWBCs) will predominately use health coaching skills to support people with lower levels of patient activation to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become active participants in their care so that they can reach their self-identified health and wellbeing goals. They may also provide access to self-management education, peer support and social prescribing. HWBCs will use a non-judgemental approach that supports the person to self-identify existing issues and encourages proactive prevention of new and existing illnesses. This approach is based on using strong communication and negotiation skills, supports personal choice and positive risk-taking, addresses potential consequences, and ensures people understand the accountability of their own decisions based on what matters to the person. They will work alongside people to coach and motivate them through multiple sessions, supporting them to self-identify their needs, set goals, and help them to implement their personalised health and care plan. https://www.england.nhs.uk/publication/health-coaching-summary-guide-and-technical-annexes/ Previous Next
