Dr Zahir Mohammed
Leadership
For the past 2 decades Dr Mohammed has relentlessly supported GPs and their practices across HMR borough. From the early days when General Practice was supported by FHSA to the subsequent move to Primary Care Groups, Primary Care Trusts and now ICBs he has represented the profession and ensured that General Practice had a voice and that appropriate funding and support from commissioning was forthcoming. He has undertaken various roles and currently supports the General Medical Council in managing complaints, continues in his role as an appraiser, supports the profession as vice chair of Rochdale and Bury Local Medical Committee, Medical Director of Rochdale Health Alliance and Clinical Director for Heywood PCN which has consistently for many years performed well in contract and service delivery across the borough. For the past 5 years he has represented the PCNs on the Local Care Organisation board and the Local Care Executive only recently having retired from those roles. His leadership at practice level is reflected in his significant increase in patient list size from 3000 when he joined 15years ago to the largest list size now in the borough at over 11500. Alongside these roles he continues to undertaking his support as a trainer for junior doctors.
Over the past decade he has led, supported and guided the profession in an admirable way and has been a shinning beacon to the young GPs of of today on how to deliver and support leadership within the borough.

Dr Khurrum Ahmed

I am honoured to nominate Dr Khurrum Ahmed for the Leadership Award, recognising the exceptional guidance and mentorship he provides to our team. It's undeniable that we frequently encounter difficult conflicts in our work. Navigating these challenges can be daunting, yet Dr Ahmed ensures they become opportunities for growth and learning for the whole team.
There have been instances where I've found myself in need of greater support to resolve these conflicts. Despite this, it is Dr Ahmed's unwavering commitment to educating and mentoring me and growing my sense of humour and fairness that truly solidifies my resolve. These attributes not only inspire me but also motivate me to approach each day with a positive outlook, eager to embrace the challenges that lie ahead.
Dr Ahmed is an inspiring leader who consistently brings out the best in our team. He leads by example, embodying positivity and a relentless pursuit of knowledge that motivates everyone around him. His ability to connect with each team member, understand their strengths, and empower them to succeed is truly exceptional. Dr Ahmed's leadership not only enhances our professional growth but also makes our workplace a dynamic and enjoyable environment in which to learn. His positive energy and commitment to excellence inspire us daily, making him an outstanding leader worthy of recognition.

Gaynor Walton

Gaynor is the Practice secretary, in recent years she has taken up a more leadership role in the Practice.
She has really stood out this past 12 months, moving the Practice forward with the General Practice improvement program to looking at better ways to improve access in the Practice.
She is always keen to take on another challenge and is committed to the Practice and General Practice.
She has helped RHA training secretaries and always being on hand to advise and support.
